🥽 Apple Vision Pro Hangover

Apple Vision Pro

After Monday’s groundbreaking announcement, Apple Vision Pro has taken the media and social networks by storm. It’s safe to say that this latest offering from Apple is nothing short of amazing, leaving us all eagerly reaching for our wallets (yet again). 💸

In today’s fast-paced market, Apple seems to have mastered the art of timing. They choose to arrive fashionably late to the party, armed with a superior product that outshines its competitors. Gone are the days of infamous mishaps like the Newton; Apple has learned from the past and now thrives on delivering excellence.

Apple Newton

While being a first mover, as Google has demonstrated, can have its advantages, it also carries the risk of being ahead of the market. Apple, on the other hand, boasts an enormous fan base and loyal customers who have become accustomed to the seamless Apple experience.

Google Glass

Their strategic approach, which includes physical Apple Stores in contrast to Dell’s online distribution system, has proven successful, showcasing their commitment to craftsmanship and design.

But let’s not forget, Google’s attempts and other early movers aside, Apple remains unrivaled when it comes to delivering stunning, meticulously crafted designs.

⚔️ Competitors Landscape: Navigating the Battlefield

As we explore the vast world of mixed reality, Apple steps onto the stage, bringing together their exceptional industrial design talent to create a truly immersive experience. While Facebook’s attempt (or should I say Meta, but let’s not dwell on that name) and PlayStation, along with various startups, have made their mark, Apple is poised to redefine the boundaries of what’s possible.

Now, I must admit, I’m not an avid gamer, and even though I gave Meta Quest a try, it failed to captivate me enough to make a purchase. My gaming journey has been primarily fueled by Xbox and my trusty Nintendo Switch. Interestingly, these platforms rely on the traditional joystick for gameplay, whereas Apple has taken a refreshing approach, introducing a more intuitive way to interact with their AR/VR device.

However, it’s important to note that Apple’s ambitions go beyond gaming. They strive to seamlessly blend your MacBook, entertainment, gaming, communication, and more into one holistic experience. It’s a bold vision that promises to transcend boundaries and offer a truly versatile product.

🤦🏾‍♂️ While we’re on the topic, Mark Zuckerberg and his team at Meta have their work cut out for them, not only in the realm of mixed reality but also in the realm of artificial intelligence. Their AI tool, BlenderBot, feels antiquated when compared to the remarkable AI solutions available today. By the way, Mark, if you’re interested, I happen to own the domain blender.bot and would be happy to discuss a potential sale.

🌈 However, let’s not be blinded by the allure of perfection at Apple Park. Every rainbow has its challenges. Despite the device’s sleek appearance, there’s one glaring flaw—the battery life is simply atrocious. You’ll find yourself needing two full batteries just to watch the Avatar movie. It’s an honest design oversight from Apple, and I can already envision other companies rushing to create backpack batteries to compensate for this limitation. Jony Ive, we implore you to address this issue and restore the balance.

As we navigate this competitive landscape, it’s clear that Apple’s foray into mixed reality holds immense promise, but challenges lie ahead. Stay tuned as we uncover more and keep you updated on the latest developments.

🥽 Solo Experience: A World of Possibilities

In the days of my youth, my family could only afford a single TV at home, while other kids seemed to have an abundance of screens. However, times have changed, and I’ve come to realize that a screen-less existence has its own merits. My spouse and I strongly believe in limiting our children’s exposure to screens, as excessive use can hinder their cognitive development.

When I crave a solo viewing experience, I turn to my trusty iPad or iPhone during the night. It allows me to immerse myself in the content of my choice without distractions. On rare occasions, we utilize a mini projector we purchased, but setting it up becomes a chore, resulting in infrequent use.

Now, with the advent of Apple Vision Pro, my personal experience is poised to undergo a transformation, addressing several aspects of my life:

  • 🎥 Streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and HBO will take on a whole new dimension. The need for the projector may become obsolete as I embrace the immersive capabilities of Apple Vision Pro.
  • 🖥️ Work will become a truly mobile affair, liberating me from the burden of carrying a second screen or a bulky monitor. With its touted 4K resolution per eye, the Apple Vision Pro promises to enhance productivity wherever I go.
  • 🎮 Gaming, a cherished pastime that often falls victim to the constraints of time, will be elevated to new heights. Whenever I do find a moment to indulge, I can expect an enhanced gaming experience that leaves a lasting impression.
  • 🧘 In my quest for mindfulness, I have embarked on the journey of meditation, following my doctor’s recommendation. With Apple Vision Pro, I anticipate a more immersive and transformative practice, allowing me to delve deeper into a state of tranquility.

🕹️ Gaming

In the realm of gaming, I find myself eagerly hoping for Nintendo to expand its offerings within Apple Arcade. The prospect of a more immersive gaming experience, enriched by the creative genius of Nintendo, fills me with anticipation. Just recently, I embarked on a captivating journey with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Although I’ve only scratched the surface, playing a mere 20 minutes of the game left me yearning for more, prompting me to ponder how this masterpiece managed to sell over 10 million copies worldwide in just three days.

Moreover, it hasn’t escaped my notice that 🍎 Apple is gradually building a formidable gaming platform to rival the industry’s major players. With each passing day, their ambitions in the gaming sphere become more apparent, as they endeavor to craft an ecosystem that caters to the diverse needs and desires of gamers worldwide.

Apple’s foray into the gaming landscape has the potential to reshape the industry, offering an array of immersive experiences that captivate both casual and dedicated gamers alike. As their gaming platform continues to evolve, we can anticipate a future where Apple not only competes but stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the giants of the gaming industry.

🏀 ⛹🏾‍♂️The Courtside Side Experience: Bringing the Game to You

NBA Will Live Broadcast One Game a Week in VR - VRScout

The future of the NBA and its embrace of augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) technology has been a topic that has lingered in my thoughts. Years ago, an NBA executive astutely pointed out the physical limitations of selling front-row seats in stadiums. However, with the advent of AR/VR, the NBA can transcend these limitations and offer the courtside experience to a much wider audience.

As I find myself captivated by the intensity of the NBA Finals, I can’t help but dream of being right there, courtside, witnessing the passion and skill of the players up close. The prospect of being able to immerse myself in the action from the comfort of my own home, through the adoption of AR/VR technology, is truly enticing.

🔥 Let’s Go HEAT!!! 🔥

🥸 Designing for AR: Embracing Multidisciplinary Collaboration

During a conversation with designers from Meta about the intricacies of Oculus, I discovered that the process of prototyping and designing for augmented reality (AR) shares striking similarities. However, when it comes to crafting AR experiences, the inclusion of media elements such as videos and animations becomes paramount. As a result, designing for AR extends beyond the realm of UX/UI designers alone, requiring the collaboration of a diverse, multidisciplinary team akin to that of the gaming industry.

🔔 If you find yourself eager to delve deeper into the realm of designing for AR/VR, I invite you to embark on a transformative learning journey. Join Ironhack’s UX/UI Bootcamp today and equip yourself with the necessary skills and knowledge to become a successful designer in this evolving landscape. The bootcamp offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to empower you with a strong foundation in UX/UI principles, tools, and methodologies.

🛰️ Apple Phone Carrier & Crypto Wallet: Expanding Possibilities

As I contemplate the ever-expanding reach of Apple’s innovative ventures, I can’t help but imagine the exciting possibilities of an Apple crypto wallet and a worldwide carrier. Building upon the successes of the Apple Card and Apple Savings account, the inclusion of a crypto wallet would offer a seamless and secure means of managing digital assets within the Apple ecosystem.

Furthermore, envisioning the prospect of a global phone service provided by Apple or even Google fills me with anticipation. Imagine the convenience of seamlessly transferring your existing phone number to Apple, transcending geographical boundaries and enjoying a truly connected experience wherever you roam. While Google Voice offers a semblance of this concept, the integration with the phone itself remains a hurdle, leaving room for a more cohesive and integrated solution.

Final Chapter: Looking Ahead 👀💫

As I wrap up this exploration of the Apple Vision Pro, I find myself already counting the dollars to save in anticipation of its release. With a hefty price tag of $3,500, I know it’s time to start setting aside funds to ensure I can indulge in this technological marvel early next year when it becomes available for purchase. And who knows? Perhaps in the future, Apple might unveil a more affordable version, sans the “Pro” moniker, opening up even more possibilities.

Yet, amidst the excitement, a tinge of concern lingers in my mind. The personas that Vision Pro creates for communication purposes strike me as somewhat eerie. I can’t help but wonder if such advancements may inadvertently disconnect us from the human connections we hold dear. As I mentioned in my previous email, there’s a potential for this technology to be utilized by AI entities like ChatGPT to engage with humans and lead them into new, intriguing “stories”.

In the near future, we might witness teenagers casually strolling about, their heads adorned with the Vision Pro device. It’s a fascinating yet somewhat surreal image, one that hints at the rapid integration of immersive technologies into our everyday lives.

And as I ponder the immersive experiences that lie ahead, I find myself contemplating the purchase of a zero-gravity chair. Why? Because it’s clear that the Apple Vision Pro promises a level of engagement that warrants a comfortable, gravity-defying perch from which to enjoy its offerings.

So, my friends, as we turn the page on this newsletter, let us embrace the unfolding technological wonders on the horizon. Let’s prepare ourselves for the advent of the Apple Vision Pro and the transformative experiences it promises to bring.

Until we meet again in the future, may your imagination soar and your excitement remain ever-ignited!
